Quick Results
1. Monty Brown defeated Eric Stevens and Mark Stephens2. Chris Sabin defeated Alex Shelley, Kazarian, Michael Shane (w/ Traci), Sonjay Dutt and Shark Boy in a Gauntlet match to be the final entrant in the X-Division Gauntlet at Victory Road
3. 3LK (Konnan and BG James) defeated The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas) to become No. 1 Contenders for the NWA World Tag Team Titles
4. Jeff Hardy defeated Petey Williams (w/ Scott D'Amore)
- Show opened with Dusty cutting a promo (which sounded like a Hulk Hogan promo in the beginning talking about TNA reaching a new level (Brother!)) about the upcoming election before introducing 3LK, Hardy and Styles to give them some screen time heading into their title matches on the PPV. Russo interrupted and said some stuff about him getting behind the young guys. This didn't really do much.
- Monty squashed two guys and hit them both with Pounces in very short order. Then cut a bit of a long promo on Raven and Abyss about their upcoming Monster's Ball match. He then pulled out an Abyss mask, put it on Stevens and hit him with an Alpha Bomb before putting a straitjacket on Stephens and hitting him a Fallaway Slam. A voice (James Mitchell) said Abyss has finally found a suitable mouthpiece and then hyped the Monster's Ball. This went far too long.
- Disappointing X-Division Gauntlet. There really wasn't much to it. It started and ended with Shelley and Sabin so the Motor City Machine Guns collided in TNA in 2004. Solid but nothing great. I do like Shark Boy though.
- It's really a shame to see the Naturals squashed so quickly and comprehensively (in around two minutes). They're reasonably fresh off a successful tag title reign that helped elevate them but now they're nothing more than fodder for 3LK to set up their title match. Near total squash.
- Hall and Nash did promos saying they were backing Jeff (Hall's supposedly in Jarrett's corner with Nash in Hardy's). It's a little sad that much of the hype for their first monthly PPV was around Hall and Nash, and Roddy Piper who did a rambling promo later in the show essentially running down the Victory Road card.
- Disappointing main event and I'd love to see what Hardy and Petey could do these days with Petey more established and Hardy in a better place. Jarrett tried to cost Hardy the match but AJ stopped Petey from hitting the Canadian Destroyer and Hardy picked up the win. Okay match but again nothing special.
Closing Thoughts
This was a really boring show, didn't really achieve much and felt twice as long as it actually was.
