Interview with Flex

Next in the TNAsylum series of Gutcheck Challenge interviews is Flex. He hails from Omaha, Nebraska and is looking for your help to advance in the Gutcheck Challenge. He is in Bracket 8 which opens May 2-4

My first question is do you watch TNA and if so how long have you been watching TNA?
Yes of course I watch TNA! I've watched it since it debuted and through the 6 sided ring days up till now. It reminds me of old school WCW and it would be amazing to be a part of the company with all the talent they have. Definitely like the direction they are going in and the fans are awesome!

What are your thoughts on the new Gutcheck Challenge with the fans voting?
I love the attention that I've gotten from wrestling fans all over the world. With this Gut Check challenge it gives a great opportunity for us indy wrestlers to get noticed and gives us a shot at our dream! Of course it ultimately comes down to the fans so we must understand how to draw and captivate audiences and I feel I am ready for a Gutcheck match and my fans really want to see me on Impact soon. Truly feel blessed with the opportunity!

Which wrestler inspired you to become a professional wrestler?
I wouldn't say there's one wrestler who inspired me, when I was a youngster my dad and older brother really got me into it and I have always been a fan of legends like Macho Man Randy Savage RIP, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Razor Ramon, The Rock! As a grow older I have more love for the Heel wrestlers like Rick Rude and Ted Dibiase and many more. But always continuing to get inspired with the guys today. I just love and always will love the business.

Who trained you to be a wrestler?
I was trained by Brian Blade (who was in bracket 4 of the Gut Check) He's wrestled on the indy's for about a decade now, and has really taught me a lot about the business and helped me a ton and continues to help me. I have the utmost respect for that man, he works hard to make sure we are ready and sets a great example for us in our promotion MWA (Midwest Wrestling Alliance). Also was trained by Austin Storm a veteran who worked a lot in Atlanta in the WCW era. Great technical wrestler and has taught me so much about the biz, overall great trainers!

Which Promotion do you primarily wrestle for?
MWA (Midwest Wrestling Alliance) TNA is next, just try to stop the Flex Express.

What is your finishing move called and what exactly is it?
The Super Pumped handle slam! Which is a pump handle slam a lot like Test's back in the day RIP. I Flex the whole time I do it which creates more damage, plus I'm 6' 4" and it's a long ways to be slammed to the mat with 240 lbs of Grade A-man muscle landing on top of my opponents.

For those that have never seen you wrestle what makes you stand out?
The passion I have for this business, and all the countless hours of training and busting my ass in the gym everyday to put myself in a position to succeed in this business. Never quitting and never stopping until I am at the top. With great friends like Shawn Schejbal that have always been there for me to support me, and for my family. I want to do everyone proud and put them on my shoulders, and ever since my Dad took me to the WWF events live when I was little, and all of the action figures and always tuning in to watch Pro Wrestling (no matter what brand) This is my dream and what I was made to do. As long as there is breath in my lungs I will work hard and hustle to get to the top of business. I will put fans in the seats, everyone will come to Impact to see this man compete. Every time I come out of that curtain I will give my all to the fans and for every wrestler before me that sacrificed their bodies and lives for this business. This isn't a game to me. I will get my shot and I will impress. All of this will show when people come to the shows to watch me wrestle.

Have you ever had a match with anyone in the Gutcheck Challenge?
Yes Brian Blade who was in bracket 4. We tag team a lot and we are similar to a Hawk and Animal type tag team (Obviously not as great as they were, but just to compare the type of tag team I would say similar to their style). Two big and powerful strong guys that dominate competition and anyone else in the way.,

If you could have a match with anyone in TNA who would you choose?
Besides Taryn Terrell? LOL I would say Chavo Guerrero. Someone said that I looked like him, but I feel I am a lot more handsome and have a much better physique, but I feel like we could put on a great match, and I wanna learn from a guy that I've always thought was a great worker and has been around for awhile. I think he could teach me a few lessons and I just would like to earn his respect along with the TNA contract. Also when you wrestle a Guerrero you truly have made it.

Speaking of your passion for pro wrestling I saw you mark out when Scott Hall responded to a tweet of yours. What was going through your mind when Scott did that?
EFFING RAZOR RAMON MAN! CHICO! I definitely oozed some Machismo!  Pure adrenaline man!

What is your gimmick?
Flex is strong muscle man, who likes to show off and be the center of attention at all times. He likes to embarrass his opponents and show them how much more superior he is. A Cross between Rick "The model" Martel, "Ravishing" Rick Rude RIP.  As well as the competitive drive of a Randy Orton. He is in this for Gold all the way. He wants to show the planet that he has arrived on Impact. Hello Brooke ;)

Is there any wrestler out there that you would compare yourself to?
Jeremy Borash told me at the Gutcheck seminar that I reminded him of Magnus, Tall but a powerhouse. I would also say guys like Randy Orton, Wade Barrett, Scott Hall. Great size, strength and very agile. I hope one day I can have as much success as these guys have had, and getting advice from all the guys on the roster would be great as well. I have much respect for all the wrestlers who do this for a living.

Is there anything you would like to add?
Thank you Jeremy Lampkin for taking the time to interview me, and I just want to say I hope the votes keep coming and please follow me on twitter @JesseFlex and be on the lookout for Flex on your television screens, because remember Flex sells. God Bless.
