Interview with Dustin Rayz

The next interview in the TNAsylum Gutcheck Bracket Challenge interviews is the Bionic man Dustin Rayz. Dustin is in Bracket 8 and wants your vote. Bracket 8 is open for voting from May 2-4.  Dustin will also be running a contest for our readers.  Read the interview for more details!

My first question is do you watch TNA and if so how long have you been watching TNA?
To be honest I've been watching TNA since the very beginning of the company. I was almost just outta highschool when I first saw that product coming out of Nashville. It was something completely different and was based more around the type of wrestlers that I enjoyed watching.

What are your thoughts on the new Gutcheck Challenge with the fans voting?
Seems to be a lot more foolproof than the last round of voting. It was pretty obvious that there was a lot of people figuring out how to cheat, but it also made me feel awesome because I knew I wasn't cheating and still getting several votes.

Which wrestler inspired you to become a professional wrestler?
I've been watching wrestling since I was four years old, but I didn't decide that I wanted to be a wrestler until I saw ECW's HeatWave 99 in Dayton Ohio. The match that inspired me was the Impact Players against RVD and Jerry Lynn. From then on I was a huge fan of ECW and Lynn! I emulated him early on, as well as so many others from ECW including Al Snow who was from a town only about an hour away from me. Knowing that he came from a town not too different from mine made me feel like it was possible for me to make something happen.

You mentioned that you fell in love with the cruiserweight wrestling. What are your thoughts on the new x-division rules?
I think it promotes an increase of pace in the matches which will make for faster more interesting matches.

Who trained you to be a wrestler?
I was actually train by a guy named Bill Kovaleski. He actually discovered myself , Jake Crist , and Dave Crist when we were just teenagers wrestling in a ring we set up in my barn. Bill was a guy who was trained by Charlie Fulton and had been around a long time in our local scene and across the Midwest. Not to sound corny but he was the light in the darkness of all the Indy garbage that surrounded us!

Which promotion do you primarily wrestle for?
I primarily work for Combat Zone Wrestling based on the east coast, but know internationally. I'm referred to as CZW's Bionic Man because of all the titanium in my body lol.

What is your finishing move called and what exactly is it?
I have two I primarily use. One is a double underhook piledriver which I call The Catalyst , and the other is a running knee smash to the skull with my titanium leg..... Don't really have a name for that one yet.

Well since you don't have a name for your finisher how about we run a contest in the comment section.
Absolutely.

If any of the readers can come up with a name for your Running Knee Smash finisher, would you send them an autographed photo?
That would be cool.

For those that have never seen you wrestle what makes you stand out?
Well above all else I tried to look different from everybody else. My gear is different but its not just to be different it actually covers my leg that has the 17in titanium rod in it. When it comes to being in the ring I have something of an aggressive personality, borderline disturbed to be honest. I like to come across as if my only objective is causing pain.

How did you get a 17" titanium rod in your leg?
I was wrestling in the famous ECW Arena in Philadelphia, on IPPV for CZW, and took a high risk dive off the top to the floor effectively breaking my femur which is the hardest bone in the body. I spent four days in a Philadelphia hospital before flying back home to Ohio.

Do you prefer to be a face or do you prefer to be the hated heel?
Because of my look I tend to be put into that heel situation, but I don't mind I'm good at it.

Have you ever had a match with anyone in the Gutcheck Challenge?
Several in fact. I could begin to list them but it would be too long!

If you could have a match with anyone in TNA who would you choose?
That's a great question! There is honestly too many to choose from, but if I had to pick one that's been on my mind lately that would have to be Zema Ion. I've worked with him on the indie scene but I would love to do it on such a larger scale in front of a TNA and TV audience.

What is your wrestling style?
Now I would have to say so far that's been the hardest question that you asked. I don't know if I can really give you a solid answer because I don't think that I have a definable style. Some may say Strong style , some may say Lucha or even Junior Heavyweight style depending on the viewer. All I can really say is watch and judge for yourself!
