- Alot happening in that opening segment though without much really happening. The wheels spun but they're still going nowhere. We've been waiting on AJ's decision for weeks now and I doubt we'll even get it next week. This has been a big problem with TNA going to four PPV's a year. The pacing is all over the place with stories developing at a strange and overly slow pace and too much seems irrelevant in a broader context. There was nothing particularly wrong with the opening segment but it just doesn't feel important. TNA are getting too hung up on this big long storyarc they have and in the meantime nothing else is happening, there's no midcard, nobody's being elevated, there's nothing new.
- I hate when matches are given a little more time on IMPACT and instead of making it a better match whoever put these matches together decides just to extend the middle of the match resulting in a dull match. Tara/Terrell was a case of this where Tara wailed of Taryn for far too long. It might simply be a case of them not trusting Taryn in the ring (which would beg the question as to why you'd push her then (I know the answer to that question)) but it's just not good TV.
- Rob Terry isn't going to go anywhere. He's no better than he was in 2010 when they pushed him hard then and he'll fall flat again this time because he's nowhere near good enough for a major position. Nothing to the match. This is a big problem with IMPACT much of the first hour was totally pointless and nobody will remember any of it in two weeks. Nothing on this show is worth going out of your way to see so guess what? Nobody does. Great video for Sabin's return aswell.
- So Roode and Aries are going to go their separate ways before they come close to achieving potential as a team, just like Styles and Angle, and Joe and Magnus last year. I really like the idea of a Fortune reunion to go against Aces and 8s but you don't need to break up Aries and Roode to do it. Really good tag title match though and Chavo and Hernandez continue to deliver in ring (and they didn't talk so it's a big thumbs up, and Hernandez continues to look awesome). Also I really hope Daniels will be a commentator when he retires because he'd be great there.
- Good promo from Morgan establishing himself as a credible opponent to Aces and 8s but Hogan blowing him off was silly. Also saying it would be a bigger mistake than Bully Ray is just stupid. Where does Morgan go from here? I have no idea. And how come everybody in TNA that loses a big match contemplates giving up on life? Hardy is the latest on that list.
- The crowd were really hot for most of the KO title match. Looks like Mickie's heel turn from last year is back on and it should do her good (even though she is very popular). Decent match with a good story but nothing spectacular, the crowd were very into it at times though.
- I don't have much of a problem with Sting clearing house considering he's been the clear next contender for Bully since Hardy lost and I love a good old lights out bat beat down (and I am and will always be a huge Sting fan). Ideally you'd have somebody with a little more long term upside take out Aces and 8s but that can come with time.
Closing Thoughts
Again a show heavy on Aces and 8s and bar the tag title match light on good wrestling this week.
