TNA Wrestling Knockouts champ Mickie James has given her backing to new world heavyweight titleholder Chris Sabin. Sabin shocked the world last week when he defeated Bully Ray for TNA’s top prize, capping a remarkable comeback after two major cruciate ligament operations. And James is confident the 31-year-old will do the company proud.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport, she said: "Having Chris as champion is exciting for us all. He is young, enthusiastic and feeling great. His win shows the confidence we all have in him and his abilities. This is his time to shine."
James traveled from her home in Virginia to London to promote TNA’s 2014 tour and her new country music album 'Somebody’s Gonna Pay.' Running two careers side by side might sound tough, but the TNA beauty has assured fans she’s equally dedicated to both.
She added: "My music is going down well with fans in the UK and Europe. They really seem to get it and like it. This is not a hobby for me, I am very serious about it. This is now my second album, so I know what I am doing. There is similarity between wrestling and music. I love and appreciate how much praise we get in the ring and that translates to the stage as well. If people sing along or clap, you know you have done something right.
"I also love life in TNA. I am enjoying working with Gail Kim again, she is so talented and we gel well together. I mean look at the classics she had with Awesome Kong — we will tear the place up! I have never met Taryn Terrell in the ring before and as such I don’t know what to expect when I finally get my hands on her! But it will be good and I know that for a fact. I like a challenge and take every opportunity I can to showcase our talented Knockouts division."
