Exclusive: TNA/Spike's Stance on Lower Ratings; Plans for Going Live

Despite the Internet Wrestling Community's concern over lower ratings recently, both Spike and TNA officials expected a drop in viewership with the timeslot change. The reason the company went Live for the Summer was to motivate regular fans to choose their product over different programs in the new hour.

At this time TNA Management are only planning on having IMPACT Wrestling go Live through the Summer however there is a big push within the organization to make Live shows a permanent thing. While many officials wanted to take IMPACT Wrestling on the road, the costs of doing it versus the payoff wasn't worth it at this time. Many see the live shows as a solid alternative vs the road shows as they create a buzz with the product.

Some believe that having the show Live during the Fall and Winter months will give TNA some incredible ratings momentum especially since traditionally they have had some of their strongest viewership at that time. The final decision however will be weighed upon by Dixie Carter and upper management. It will likely depend on if the ratings/viewership is higher than what they did before the timeslot change.
