We at TNAsylum will be testing out a few new formats over the next few weeks to see what sticks and what doesn’t. This is a Question and Answer format. I have gathered five Questions I have received through email over the past few weeks and compiled them into one column:
APeterman asks:
What’s the deal with your site, I thought that there would be no censorship? Why do my comments keep getting deleted?
Hey Peterman,
As I described before, we never claimed freedom of speech here. What we promised was no bullying or personal attacks. Our site encourages debate but won’t tolerate personal attacks. We have a few who come on just to trash the site or individual members, and those people will be added to a Moderation list where all of their comments need to be approved. Just like sites like PWTorch and 411 do, the comments need to be approved. We won’t ban members because our site isn’t designed like that but we will protect our members from bullying and personal attacks.
The staff here have experienced bullying in our past so we know the fine line between freedom of speech and security on the site. As long as you keep things related to the article or news story, all of your comments will be approved.
Obviously we are using security and a safe haven over complete freedom of speech!
Austin Asks:
Why does TNA not take talent of their roster page on their website? I know the reason for some people like Daniels because they are still trying to get him back, but people like ODB and Scott Hall who are pretty obviously no longer going to have anything to do with the company. Why do they leave them on?
Hey Austin,
It is from my understanding that TNA has paid one or two people to run the whole site and I believe those people are on a part time basis. You will notice spelling errors and other problems on the site.
I don’t know why these wrestlers are still on the site. I think it’s because TNA wants to keep some of the suspense and make the fans question if they are released or not.
Austin Also Asks:
My other question is if you had the inside scoop on who's thinking of heading to TNA. You hear so many rumors and it's hard to get answers. As you reported I know that Helms is very close to TNA. But where is Shelton Benjamin? Will some ECW guys get contracts? I saw that Kash, Scorpio, and some others were at the taping for the ending. What about Matt Hardy? Is it true that he's really unhappy and ready to jump? Haha sorry, you just hear some much stuff and you always want to separate the fool's gold and diamonds. You know?
TNA is always on the lookout for top notch talent. I honestly believe out of everyone out there, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Shane Helms and Mickie James will be the most likely to join the company. There are rumors that Tommy Dreamer is taking control of creative and that he has promised his friends jobs (which explains the former ECW guys). As for Matt Hardy, he is known to try and get reactions from his internet postings. When someone reacts to a cryptic message of his, he oftentimes calls them idiots for interpreting the message wrong. I don’t currently know Matt Hardy’s contract status.
Switchblade asks:
Whatever happened to your guys’ message board?
Earlier this Summer, we ran a trial of how popular a message board would be. At the time, there were many interested parties but the staff at the site decided that a Message Board so early in our run was a little premature. We therefore decided to pull the site!
We will be running another trial run in a few months to see how popular the concept is. We also take into account that our site is a blog/website and not a message board. We don’t want the Board to take away from the main site. Stay tuned as we will likely be announcing the trial run of a message board in the coming months.
Naven Asks:
Why is it that TNA gives away all the big matches on Impact instead of saving them for Pay Per View. You would think they would make way more money off of buys than from their TV deal?
Eric Bischoff stated in his book “Controversy Creates Cash” that fans are more interested in the story behind the match as opposed to the people involved in the match. TNA’s business structure is less reliant on PPV compared to WWE who has a huge investment in PPV.
Dixie Carter went on the record last year stating she wasn’t a fan of the current PPV format. I believe that “The Whole F’N Show” will give TNA a sense of what kind of success they might have. Spike TV is guaranteed money while PPV is money based off of success.
